With reference to Ford Aberdeen's Despatch No: 60 of the 20th May 1843,1 in which Her Lordship directs that for the future the Expenses of the Superintendents Office, and Consular Establishment are to be defrayed from the Funds received from the Chinese Government instead of by Bills drawn on the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury, it will be requisite for us to determine the rate at which the Dollar is to be issued, particularly to those Officers of the former Dept whose Salaries are established in Sterling money, and hitherto paid by Bills on England, which they disposed of at the current rate of Exchange.
